Lady Jackets Down UMHB 60-54

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team forced 27 Mary Hardin-Baylor turnovers in a 60-54 conference victory Thursday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.

Despite being outrebounded 52-28 by Mary Hardin-Baylor, the Lady Jackets forced 27 UMHB turnovers while only committing nine. HPU would capitalize on the 27 turnovers leading UMHB 23-3 on points off turnovers.

Howard Payne found themselves down 29-25 at halftime shooting just 25% from the field. The Lady Jackets picked up their scoring in the second half and outscored UMHB 35-25 to post the 60-54 conference win.

HPU's Danyel Bradley led all scorers with 27 points and six steals. Bradley was also 10 of 10 from the free-throw line. Brintani Gattis followed with 10 points and a team high seven rebounds. Kalin Hanna recorded a game high four blocks.

Taylor Tucker led UMHB with 23 points along with nine rebounds. Alyssa Dean had 10 points and Jovana Miles grabbed a game high 12 rebounds.

Howard Payne stands at 10-6 overall and 9-4 in conference play. UMHB falls to 9-7 overall and 9-4 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play on Saturday at home versus Concordia Texas at 1:00 pm.
