Lady Jackets With 53-49 Win Over CTX

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team used a 20-6 second half run to defeat Concordia University Texas 53-49 Saturday afternoon in the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Jackets would get to the free-throw line 11 more times than the Lady Tornados. All other categories were close but HPU did also lead in block shoots 12-3.

Leading the Lady Jacket 28-27 at the half, the Lady Tornados extended their lead to ten, 43-33 with 12:03 to play in the game.

Neither team scored over the next three minutes, but from there the HPU Lady Jackets would outscore Concordia 20-6 the remainder of the game for their tenth conference victory of the year.

HPU's Britani Gattis led all with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Sarah Van Remmen played her best overall game of the season with 12 points, 11 rebounds, six blocks and four steals. McKinley Meyer had 12 points off the bench and Kalin Hanna added four blocks.

Voneshia Williams led Concordia with 10 points and Margaret Milling grabbed a team high 11 rebounds.

Howard Payne stands at 11-6 overall and 10-4 in conference. Concordia falls to 8-9 overall and 6-8 in ASC action. Howard Payne will play host to Hardin-Simmons on January 30th at 5:30 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum.
