BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team gained their first conference win of the season 3-2 over LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field.
After a LeTourneau goal in the 10th minute,
Lynsie Anderson would connect with
Taylor Bicknell in the 25th and 38th minutes to give the Lady Jackets a 2-1 lead.
Courtney Turner added an unassisted goal just 1:26 later to give HPU a 3-1 halftime advantage.
LeTourneau was able to pull within one on a goal in the 87th minute but the Lady Jackets would hold in the final minutes for the the 3-1 victory.
Kelsie Piland improved to 6-4 in goal for HPU recording nine saves. Bicknell had seven total shots, six on goal. Turner had five shots all on goal.
Howard Payne is now 6-5-1 overall and 1-3-1 in conference action. LeTourneau is,5-7-2 overall and 2-4-1 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play next on October 23rd in Richardson, Texas versus the University of Texas at Dallas starting at 5:00 pm.
