RICHARDSON, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team held the University of Texas at Dallas to just two shots on goal but would go on to lose the match 1-0 Thursday evening in conference play.
The two teams would remain scoreless till the 79th minute when UT-Dallas would score off a corner kick.Â
The HPU defense held UT-Dallas to just two shots on goal, with UTD leading 16-7 in total shots. The Lady Jacket offense would only get one shot on goal.
Samantha Mullins would have an opportunity in the 89th minute to tie the game off a corner kick by
Courtney Turner.
Kelsie Piland got the loss for HPU playing all 90 minutes and recording one save.
Courtney Turner led HPU with four shots.
Howard Payne is now 6-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in conference. UTD stands at 11-2-1 overall and 5-0-1 ASC play. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR, it is a 1:00 pm start time.
