KERRVILLE, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team defeated Schreiner University for the second time this season 3-0 (25-23,25-22,25-22) Tuesday evening in non-conference action.
Schreiner held an 18-11 lead midway in the first set when Howard Payne rallied in the latter stages to take the set 25-23. Although Schreiner remained close in the final two sets, the Lady Jackets asserted themsleves earlier in each forcing Schreiner to play-from-behind. Howard Payne would take the two final sets 25-22 and 25-22.
Breanne Cathey led HPU with eight kills on 20 attempts. Setter
Allison Eaton had an amazing match recording six kills, no errors on eight attempts. Eaton also had 17 assists, three service aces and 13 digs.
Taylor Reid had three service aces and
Briana Williams added a team high 14 digs.
Howard Payne improves to 2-22 overall and Schreiner falls to 2-26 overall. Howard Payne will play next on Friday, Oct. 31st versus Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. It will be a 4:00 pm start time.
