BROWNWOOD, Texas – Howard Payne volleyball drops a five set thriller to Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon 2-3 (25-17, 25-20, 23-25,16-25, 10-15) in the Brownwood Coliseum.

Howard Payne started the match strong by taking the first set 25-16. In the second set, the Lady Jackets held the momentum throughout and took the set 25-20. The third set After the Lady Jackets gained a 19-13 lead in the third the Lobos would rally to take the set 25-23.

Sul Ross would remain aggressive through the fourth taking the set 25-16. In the fifth set, the Lady Jackets and Lobos would go back and forth until the momentum would swing in the Lobos direction. Sul Ross would win the fifth set 15-10 and the match 3-2.

Briana Williams led the Lady Jackets with 16 kills on 46 attempts with Breana Cathey right behind her with 12 kills on 32 attempts. Allison Eaton had 34 assists and Shelby Bridges had 18 digs.

Sul Ross's Lauren Aldana would have 15 kills on 40 attempts. Katie Reeves would have 35 assist and 20 digs.

Howard Payne is now 0-15 overall and 0-8 in ASC play. Sul Ross stands at 5-13 overall and 1-7 in ASC action. The Lady Jackets will play Tuesday October the 7th in Brownwood versus Schreiner University at 6:00 pm.?
