BROWNWOOD, TX - The Howard Payne volleyball team beat Schreiner University in straights Tuesday in the Brownwood Coliseum. The Lady Jackets posted their first victory of the season 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-22) over the Mountaineers.
The Lady Jackets came out aggressively in the first set taking a quick lead and winning the first set 25-18. Howard Payne used a .240 hitting percentage to take the early advantage.
Howard Payne would hold on to the momentum throughout the second set taking it 25-16. In the last set, Schreiner would show some fire catching up with the Lady Jacket 20-19 but Howard Payne would gain control taking a 24-20 lead and eventually winning the set 25-22.

Ariana Rehm would total of eight kills each. 
Micah Cisneroz and 
Breanne Cathey would have six kills each helping the Lady Jacket take the win. 
Katie Schulte would lead Howard Payne with 15 assists and 
Allison Eaton was right behind her with 14 assists. 
Shelby Bridges finished with 12 digs.
Schreiner's Mallory Dunn finished with seven kills on 25 attempts and Kelli Bolen would have 15 assists. Lauren McQueen had 11 digs with Kathryn Wallace following her with 10 digs.
Howard Payne is now 1-15 overall and 1-7 in ASC action. Schreiner is now 1-17 overall and 1-6 in SCAC play. The Lady Jackets will play next in Richardson, Texas on October the 10th,at 7:00 pm versus the University of Texas at Dallas.
