2014 ASC Women’s Soccer Tournament Field Set

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Hardin-Simmons University women's soccer team posted an 8-1 record in league play to win the regular season title and the right to host the 2014 ASC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament, Nov. 6, 8-9 at the HSU Soccer Complex in Abilene, Texas. The bracket for the six-team single-elimination ASC Championship was announced Saturday (Nov. 1) following completion of conference play.
 
No. 1 seed Hardin-Simmons (14-2/8-1 ASC) will get a first-round bye and play the winner between No. 4 Texas Dallas (12-4-1/6-2-1 ASC) and No. 5 Concordia Texas (7-5-3/4-4-1 ASC). Texas Dallas makes its 15th overall tournament appearance and 13th consecutive. UTD has played in seven championship finals and is the last team to defeat HSU in the conference tournament when the Comets defeated the Cowgirls for the 2002 championship. Concordia Texas makes its fifth consecutive tournament appearance all coming in the last five years.
 
No. 2 seed Texas-Tyler (12-1-2/7-0-2 ASC) will also receive a first-round bye and play the winner between No. 3 Mary Hardin-Baylor (9-4-2/6-1-2 ASC) and No. 6 seed Howard Payne (9-7-1/4-4-1 ASC). Texas-Tyler makes its eighth consecutive tournament appearance and is the first ASC team to defeat Hardin-Simmons in the regular season since 2000, snapping a 171-match unbeaten streak. Mary Hardin-Baylor makes its sixth tournament appearance and second consecutive. Howard Payne makes its third tournament appearance and first since 2011.
 
Top-seeded Hardin-Simmons defeated East Texas Baptist in the last match of the season to clinch its 12th consecutive ASC regular season title. The Cowgirls have played in every ASC tournament since the inaugural event in 1998 and lead the ASC with 14 championships and a 29-2 tournament record.
