ARLINGTON, Texas – The Howard Payne men's basketball team posted a 89-50 non-conference loss to NCAA D-I University of Texas - Arlington at College Park Center Saturday afternoon.

UT-Arlington jumped out to a 17-4 lead to start the game. That proved to be the difference in the first half as UTA lead 39-25 at the half. The Yellow Jackets would grab 12 first half offensive rebounds to stay in the game.

Howard Payne got 14 second half points from freshman Khyce Randall but it would not be enough as UTA scored 50 second half points to take the game 89-50.

Randall led the Jackets with 14 points off the bench followed by Ty Davis with eight. Curtis Gile and Davis each had five rebounds for the Jackets. Howard Payne shot just 28% from the field and turned the ball over 17 times.

Jamel Outler led UT-Arlington with a game high 17 points followed by Johnny Hill with 12 points. UTA shot 50 percent (32-64) and had a 38-12 edge in points in the pant.

Howard Payne is now 2-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play. UTA stands at 6-4 overall. The Yellow Jackets will play conference opponent UT-Dallas on Monday in Richardson, Texas at 7:30 pm.
