SB Takes Ozarks Series With 8-3 Win

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team won their series finale 8-3  with the University of the Ozarks to take the conference series 2-1 Saturday afternoon.

Erin McLeod was 4-for-4 from the plate with three RBIs for the Lady Jackets. Taylor Rushing picked up her fourth win of the year for HPU, second on the weekend.

With the game tied at 2-2, the Lady Jackets scored three in the third and two in the second to open up a 7-2 lead with two innings to play.

With an RBI single in the first, Erin McLeod had a 2 RBI triple in the third to give HPU a 4-2 lead. Cherita George then had a sacrifice fly to center field to make it 5-2 Lady Jackets.

A Tayler Rushing RBI single to center field and Jessica Morales reaching on an error would add two more runs for HPU in the fifth, 7-2 HPU.

 Each team would add a run in the sixth then HPU would close out the game in the top of the seventh for the 8-3 victory.

Jessica Morales and Tayler Rushing each finished the game 2-for-4 from the plate for Howard Payne.

Howard Payne is now 4-21 overall and 3-18 in ASC play. Ozarks stands at 3-25 overall and 2-19 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next weekend at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA.
