SB Drops DH To #9 UT-Tyler

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 TYLER, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team dropped pair of games against American Southwest Conference opponent #9 UT-Tyler, 13-1, 10-2 on Friday.

In game one, UT Tyler did most of its damage in the second inning, scoring seven in the bottom of the frame.

The Lady Jackets got on the scoreboard in the top of the third when Amanda Gober reached on an error by shortstop allowing Tayler Rushing to score.

The Patriots added three more in the bottom of the third and fourth to go up 13-1. Tayler Rushing got the loss for HPU.

In game two, Howard Payne took its first lead of the series, going up 2-1 in the top of the third inning on singles by Tyler Rushing and Pricilla Patino. Each would 2-for-3 from the plate in game two.

UT-Tyler answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. UT-Tyler would end the second game with three runs over the last two innings.

Morgan Ashmore picked up the loss in game two for the Lady Jackets.

Howard Payne stands at 2-13 overall and UT-Tyler is now 13-1 overall on the year. The Patriots and Lady Jackets will close the series on Saturday at 11 am in Tyler.
