BB Gets 1-0 Victory Over #16 CTX

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas - The Howard Payne baseball team downed #16 Concordia University Texas 1-0 to open up their weekend conference series Friday evening at Tornado Field.

Matthew Parks got the complete game win for Howard Payne striking out six, allowing eight hits and walking five. Parks improved to 7-2 on the year with the win.

Concordia had the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth with two outs. Parks forced the Tornados to ground out and the Jackets were out of the inning.

In the top of the ninth, it was Kyle Kulczyk who singled to right center to start the inning. CJ Schumann pinch ran for Kulczyk. A Will Robert sac bunt then pushed Schumann to second. Jake Sadler would give the Jackets the go ahead run with a single up the middle to score Schumann.

Howard Payne is now 14-13 overall and 11-11 in conference. Concordia stands at 21-7 overall and 16-5 in ASC action. Both teams will play a double header on Saturday starting at 1:00 pm.
