BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team dominated Austin College in every category except in goals falling 1-0 in the HPU season opener at Citizens National Bank Field Saturday afternoon.

Howard Payne outshot Austin College 15-4 and 7-2 in shots on goal for the game. Howard Payne also had eight corner kicks to just one for Austin College. 

Austin College's Mandi Sherwood scored the game winner with a looping shoot over the keeper with just 1:01 remaining in the game.

HPU keeper Kelsie Piland got the loss playing all 90 minutes. Piland had just one save facing only two shots on goal and four total shots. AC's Franchesca Lozoya got the win recording seven saves.

Howard Payne is now 0-2-0 on the year and AC stands at 1-0-0 overall. The Lady Jackets will play next on Sept. 4th at St. Thomas - Houston at 3:00 pm.
