SHREVEPORT, Louisiana - The Howard Payne women's soccer team shutout Centenary College (LA) 3-0 to gain their first win of the season Saturday evening in non-conference action.
Taylor Bicknell picked up the first goal (unassisted) for Howard Payne in the 15th minute to give the Lady Jackets the early lead. Then HPU'sÂ
Rachel Crane found the net on an
Alex Bernal assist in the 31st minute to give the Lady Jackets a 2-0 advantage.
Senior
Samantha Mullins added an insurance goal in the 59th minute on an assist by
Priscilla Jamaica. It was Mullins first goal of her career.
Kelsie Piland recorded the shutout in goal playing all 90 minutes and recording three saves. The Lady Jackets outshot Centenary 22-4 for the match and had six corner kicks while limiting Centenary to just two.
Howard Payne stands at 1-3-0 overall and Centenary is 0-4-0 on the year. Howard Payne will play next on September 16th in Abilene versus McMurry University at 7:00 pm.
