BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's volleyball team dropped their 2014 home opener 3-0 ( 20-25, 19-25, 8-25) to UT-Tyler Friday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.
The Lady Jacket started the first set slowly but made a quick run. They showed some aggressiveness but dropped the first set 20-25. In the second set, they fell behind quickly and dropped the set 19-25 despite hitting their best percentage of the season.
In the third set, the Lady Jacket had a 6-3 lead against Patriots and quickly fell behind dropping the third set 8-25.
Micah Cisneroz led the Lady Jackets with 12 kills on 31 attempts and
Taylor Reid followed with seven kills and a .700 hitting percentage.
Allison Eaton had a total of 15 assist leading the Lady Jackets.
Shelby Bridges had 19 digs with
Briana Williams right behind her with 13.
UT-Tyler's Rebekah Maner and Courtney Criswell led the Patriots with eight kills each and Rachael Harvey had a total of 21 digs.
Howard Payne is now 0-6 overall and 0-1 in ASC action. UT-Tyler is 5-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will play tomorrow in the Brownwood Coliseum against UT- Dallas at 2:00 pm.
