BROWNWOOD, TEXAS – The Howard Payne volleyball team dropped its second consecutive conference match Saturday afternoon against the University of Texas at Dallas 3-1 (17-25 21-25 27-25 11-25) in Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Jackets started the first set strong getting the first kill of the afternoon but ended up dropping the set 17-25.

In the second set, it was a back and forth with the Comets pulling away with a 4 point lead taking the set 21-25.

The Lady Jackets came back aggressive in the third leading the Comets most of the way but UT-Dallas would tie it up a couple of times at the end. Howard Payne would hold strong to take the set 27-25.

In the fourth set, the Comets took full control and closed out the match with an 11-25 fourth set.

Despite the loss, the Lady Jackets had their best hitting percentages of the season in set two and three.

Taylor Reid led the team will 11 kills on 38 attempts, with Briana Williams following right behind with 10 kills on 36 attempts along with 18 digs. Allison Eaton had a total of 30 assists. Shelby Bridges had 24 digs.

UT-Dallas's Holyn Handley had 18 kills on 34 attempts. Kayla Jordan had 51 assists and Meredith Crawford led UTD with 26 digs.

Howard Payne is now 0-7 overall and 0-2 in ASC action. UT-Dallas is 8-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will play Concordia University Texas in Austin on the 16th of September at 7:00 pm.
