ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team recorded their second straight 3-0 shutout over previously unbeaten McMurry University Tuesday evening at Wilford Moore Stadium.

The McMurry Warhawks, who were unbeaten at 3-0 going into the match, found themselves down to the Lady Jackets 2-0 at the break.

In the 16th minute, Tyla Tipton would net her first goal of her career off a Marley Zochert assist. Then in the 36th minute Rachel Crane followed up a rebound for her second goal of the year. Marlene Gillespie would add an insurance goal in the 74th minute, her second of the season.

Howard Payne would outshoot McMurry 30-11 overall and 16-4 in shots on goal. Marley Zochert led with six shots, four on goal. Courtney Turner followed with five shots and three on goal. Kelsie Piland recorded the shutout win in goal recording four saves, it was her second shutout of the season.

Howard Payne is now 2-3-0 overall and McMurry stands at 3-1 on the season. The Lady Jackets will play next on September 20th versus Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas at 2:00 pm.
