HOUSTON, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer team fell behind behind 2-0 to the University of St. Thomas in the first period and could not recover falling by the same score Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.

After St. Thomas scored goals in the 21st and 31st minutes of the first half, the Lady Jackets settled down to outplay St Thomas in the second period. 

Howard Payne would outshoot St Thomas 9-1 in the second period and 12-6 for the game. The Lady Jackets also had nine shots on goal to just four for St Thomas.

Marley Zochert recorded four shots on goal, six total. Courtney Turner added two shots on goal to the HPU totals. In the loss, Nicole Goodwin played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lady Jackets gaining one save.

Howard Payne is now 0-3-0 on the year and St. Thomas stands at 2-0-0 overall. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at Centenary College in Shreveport, LA at 4:00 pm.
