With the Howard Payne leading 69-68, the Yellow Jackets missed a jumper with 11 second left to extend their lead.

ETBU then secured the defensive rebounds and hit a three-point bucket with :01 second left on the clock to go ahead 71-69. The Jackets would be unable to get a shot off in their last attempt to win.

With the game tied at 28-28 in the first half, Howard Payne put together a 9-0 run to lead 37-28 with 3:34 left in the first half. The Jackets had a 41-35 advantage at the halftime break.

Brandon Gould led all scorers with 20 points along with three assists and eight steals. Ty Davis added 15 points and Evan Vaden scored 11 points with eight rebounds off the bench.

ETBU was led by Junior Mitchell with 13 points followed Jamil Samuel with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Felicia and Kerry McClahan each added 10 points. Felicia also had a game high 12 rebounds.

Howard Payne falls to 7-7 overall and 7-2 in American Southwest Conference action. ETBU is now 11-4 overall and 5-4 in conference. The Jackets will play next on January 22 at Concordia Texas.
