BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne men's soccer team dropped a close match to Hardin-Simmons by a score of 1-0 at Citizens National Bank Field on Thursday afternoon.
Hardin-Simmons lone goal came from Blake Odell in the 13th minute as Odell and
Avery McGrath were in a one-on-one breakaway run before McGrath tripped and fell allowing Odell to put it away in the bottom corner of goal.
Aside from the goal, both teams were evenly matched throughout the game. Howard Payne outshot HSU 11-9 and had 5 corner kicks to HSU's 4. Both keepers had 4 saves on the match.
Alex Sanchez finished with 4 shots on the match.

Daniel Torres each added a shot. Senior goalie
Allan Chehadi finished with 4 saves and is now 2-5 on the year.
The Yellow Jackets are now 2-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Hardin-Simmons holds an overall record of 5-3-1 overall and are 3-1 in conference play. Howard Payne will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 3rd where they will host McMurry University at 3:00 p.m.
