BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne men's soccer team tied 1-1 against McMurry University on Saturday afternoon.
Alex Sanchez got the Jackets on the board first after he scored off a header assisted by
Reid Longabaugh in the 32nd minute.
McMurry's goal came in the 65th minute from Abraham Martinez assisted by Eduardo Zuluaga.
Howard Payne tacked on 24 shots in the match with 10 being on goal. McMurry finished with 10 shots total and 3 on goal. Both teams were even with 5 corner kicks each.
Alex Sanchez had five shots with two being on goal.
Shay Pate finished with four shots and one on goal.
Michael Westerman,
Collin Salyers and
Ruben Lemus each had two shots.
Allan Chehadi finished with two saves and now holds a record of 2-5-1.
For McMurry, Martin Ornelas finished with five shots and one on goal. Zack Smith had two shots.
Howard Payne is now 2-5-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play. McMurry is 1-9-1 overall. The Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, October 10th where they will host the University of Texas at Dallas at 3:00 p.m. at Citizens National Bank Field.
