BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne Lady Jacket soccer team finished their match against LeTourneau University in a nil-nil draw on Thursday afternoon putting them at 2-6-2 overall.

The Lady Jackets played aggressively in the 1st half but failed to carry that play over to the following half and in both overtime periods. "The first half we were very strong. Going into the second, you could tell the fatigue started to cut in but the girls battled and stayed strong from start to finish," said head coach Tatenda Chieza.

Jennifer Martinez Kristy Melendez and Dayane Gutierrez each had a shot on goal in the match. Senior keeper Kelsie Piland played the entire 110 minutes and picked up 9 saves.

LETU finished with 16 total shots to Howard Payne's 3. Stephanie Vana led with eight shots, five being on goal. Keely Haden added two shots on goal. Bridey Davis had 2 saves on the match

The draw was the second one of the season as the Lady Jackets tied 1-1 against McMurry earlier in the month. "110 minutes is not easy, it's a little rough but I think that what we've done this season and how we're preparing the ladies, we can definitely stick out those situations," said Coach T.

The Lady Jackets are 2-6-2 overall with a conference record of 1-4-2. LeTourneau sits at 7-4-1 overall and 4-1-1 in conference. Howard Payne will be back on the pitch Saturday, October 17th as they host East Texas Baptist University at 1:00 p.m.
