BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne men's soccer team closed out their five game home stand with a win as they defeated East Texas Baptist University 1-0 on Saturday afternoon giving them their first conference win.
ETBU led all match in shots with 24 to Howard Payne's 11 and in corner kicks 5-3 but it was
Tracer Moore netting the lone goal of the match for his 2nd goal on the season in the 10th minute of play helping the Jackets to victory.
For Howard Payne,
Alex Sanchez led with five shots, one on goal.
Shay Pate had two shots.
Emile Accaoui,
Daniel Torres and
Michael Westerman each had a shot on goal. Keeper
Allan Chehadi played the full 90 minutes and picked up 14 saves giving him a new season high.
Pablo Jaimes led ETBU with five shots, two on goal. David Jackson had four shots. Matthew Argenbright and Gustavo Vasquez each had three shots. Goal keeper Juan Perales played 88 minutes picking up four saves and allowed the goal.
The Jackets are now 3-7-1 on the year with a conference record of 1-5-1. ETBU is 2-11 overall. Howard Payne will play again on Thursday, October 22nd as they travel to Tyler to take on the University of Texas at Tyler at 7:00 p.m.
