HPU goes 1-1 on day 2 of Centenary College Tourney

Lady Jackets celebrate on senior day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – The Lady Jacket volleyball fell to Austin College (3-0) but defeated tournament host Centenary College (3-0) in day two of the Centenary College Tournament to wrap up the 2015 season.

In game one against Austin College, Howard Payne fell in three sets by scores of 11-25, 14-25 and 17-25. The Lady Jackets had 22 kills to AC's 40 and 30 digs compared to AC's 43.

Shelbie Harry led in kills with nine. Alyssa Beasley followed with five. Cheyanne Lovelady finished with nine assists while Katie Schulte added four more. Freshman libero Analisa Anzaldua had eight digs on the match. Harry and Taylor Reid both had six digs apiece.

Austin College's offensive attack was led by Rebekah Bowden and Presleigh Watson who each had nine kills. Katie Ingle led with 23 assists. Lauren Wulz had 10. Rachel Fusselman had 12 digs on the match.

Game two was a different story for the Lady Jackets as they defeated Centenary College in three sets with set scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-16. Howard Payne had 36 kills while picking up 34 assists and 56 digs.

Alyssa Beasley finished the game with 11 kills. Senior hitter Micah Cisneroz had 10 kills and picked up four blocks in her final game as a Lady Jacket volleyball player. Cheyanne Lovelady had 15 assists. Katie Schulte finished with 12 respectively. Analisa Anzladua finished with 17 digs. Callie Molloy ended with nine on the match.

Desiree Frey led the Centenary attack with seven kills. Mackenzie Shaw picked up 17 assists on the match. Shyann Pisano ended with nine digs. Amanda Farr finished with eight.

The Lady Jackets finish the 2015 season with an overall record of 5-20 and a conference record of 1-11 winning four of the last five games of the season. Howard Payne loses one senior in Micah Cisneroz who will now start gearing up for basketball for the Lady Jackets.
