ALPINE, Texas - The Howard Payne women's soccer fell 2-1 to conference opponent Sul Ross State University Thursday afternoon on the road.
The Lady Jackets would get their only score of the day when Sul Ross State netted an own goal to give Howard Payne a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute of the match.
Sul Ross State's Valeria Rey scored two more goals, one in the 15th minute and the second in the 28th minute.
The Lady Jackets did outshot the Lobos 18-8 in the match and had five corner kicks to Sul Ross' two.
Tyla Tipton and
Kaitlyn Harrison each had three shots on goal for HPU.
Kelsie Piland recorded the loss for HPU recording 6 saves in 90 minutes of action.
Howard Payne is now 2-6-1 overall and 1-4 in American Southwest Conference play. Sul Ross State is now 2-6-0 overall and 2-4 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next on October 15th at home versus LeTourneau University at 1:00 pm.
