SHREVEPORT, Louisiana - The Howard Payne men's basketball team picked up its second straight victory in a 68-67 win over Rust College on day two of the Centenary College Tournament Sunday afternoon.

For the second day in a row, the Yellow Jackets would lead by double digits in the second half only to have the opposition tie the game in the closing seconds. 

With the Jackets leading 67-56 with under four minutes remaining, Rust went on an 11-0 run to tie the game at 67-67 with :48 second left on the clock. HPU's Khyce Randall would draw a foul on the next possession and hit the first of two free-throws with :17 seconds left to give the Jackets a 68-67 lead.

Now with Rust looking to tie or win the game, Cam Frank would record his third steal of the game for the Jackets with three seconds left to secure the game.

Howard Payne was solid defensively for the second night in a row holding Rust to just 34% shooting in the game. Howard Payne shot 44.8% themselves and were 8-for-19 (42.1%) from behind the arc.

Cam Frank scored 13 for the Jackets on 5 of 7 shooting, he added six rebounds, three steals and a game high four assists to his numbers. DJ Gardner scored 10 and Khyce Randall and Rickey Guillory added nine points apiece. 

Rust was led by Curtis Stuckey and Johnathan Bowens with 13 points each. Allen Potts followed with 12 points.

Howard Payne is now 2-7 overall and Rust stands at 4-8 on the year. The Yellow Jackets will have an exhibition game at D-I Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas on Monday starting at 7:00 pm.
