SEGUIN, Texas - The Howard Payne women's tennis team fell 8-1 to Texas Lutheran University Thursday in non-conference action.

In number six singles play, HPU's Devin Mendelson was defeating Ashley Hurst of TLU 6-2, 2-2, before Hurst retired.

The Lady Jackets also had close matches in number two double with Chesney Goza and Breanna Hunt falling 8-5. 

In number four singles,Tiffany Bullock would lose in three sets 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-3).

Howard Payne is now 2-3 overall and Texas Lutheran stands at 3-4 overall. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday versus the University of the Ozarks at the Nabers Tennis center in Brownwood starting at 9:00 am.
