BROWNWOOD, Texas - After the conference games had been moved to Brownwood due to poor field condition in Richardson, the Lady Jackets fell 3-4 and 0-8 to the University of Texas at Dallas Sunday afternoon at Lady Jacket Field.
Down 4-2 going into the bottom of the sixth of game one, the Lady Jackets would score on an
Erin McLeod double to right center to bring home
Gaby Muniz. Howard Payne stranded two runners in the inning, after a
Cherita George strikeout and McLeod called out going home ended the HPU rally.
Celese Tirres started the bottom of the seventh with a single, but the Lady Jackets would record three consecutive outs to end their comeback opportunity.
Tirres and
Tayler Rushing shared time in the circle for HPU with Tirres recording the loss in the start. McLeod finished 2-for-3 from the plate with an RBI.
In game two, Lady Jackets were held to just three hits while UT-Dallas recorded 11. UTD scored in each of the first four innings on the way to the 8-0 decision.
Tayler Rushing got the loss in the complete game allowing eight runs on 11 hits and striking out one.
Gaby Muniz, Shandi WInstead and
Amanda Cruddas each had a hit for Howard Payne.
