BROWNOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team dropped its series finale with the University of Texas at Tyler 9-0 Saturday afternoon at Lady Jacket Field.
The Lady Jackets would be held to just two hits in the game while the Patriots recorded 10 as a team.

Shandi Winstead each tallied a hit for HPU.
UT-Tyler jumped out to a 6-0 advantage after scoring three runs in the second and third frames. They had one in the fourth and two in the fifth to round out their scoring.
In the loss,
Celese Tirres struckout four in five innings of action for the Lady Jackets.
Howard Payne is now 4-9 overall and 2-7 in American Southwest Conference action. UT-Tyler stands at 13-0 overall and 9-0 in league play. The Lady Jackets will play next on Monday, March 9th at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, a double header starting at 1:00 pm.
