BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team loses 7-0 and 7-3 to conference opponent Louisiana College Thursday afternoon at Lady Jacket field.

The Lady Jackets were held to just two hits in game one of the double header with Louisiana College. The Wildcats scored three runs in the first inning on their way to the 7-0 win.

Celese Tirres struckout three in the loss for Howard Payne. Erin McLeod and Amanda Cruddas had one hit each for the Lady Jackets.

Game two was more competative for Howard Payne with the Lady Jackets tallying three runs on eight hits.,

In the 2nd, Tayler Rushing singled up the middle to score Shandi Winstead to bring HPU to within two, 3-1. After a four run fifth by LC, Winstead singled to left center to score McLeod. Then in the 7th, Winstead singled to plate Gaby Muniz,

Tayler Rushing got the loss in the start with Celese Tirres seeing time in relief.

Howard Payne is now,8-19 overall and 4-13 in American Southwest Conference play. Louisiana College is,19-5 overall and 14-2 in league action. The two teams will finish out the series on Friday with a single game starting at 1:00 pm.
