MARSHALL, Texas - Howard Payne's Celese Tirres struckout five in a 3-0 conference loss to #3 East Texas Baptist Monday evening. The Lady Jackets dropped the first game of the double header 10-0.

After East Texas Baptist held Howard Payne hitless in a 10-0 loss in game one, HPU's Celese Tirres struckout five in the 3-0 loss in the second game of the double header.

Gaby Muniz recorded the only hit for the Lady Jackets in game two. It was in the very first at bat of the game when Muniz singled down the left field line.

The Lady Jackets played solid defense and were able the hold runners on in the second game forcing ETBU to strand seven runners.,

In game two, Tirres allowed three runs one seven hits in the complete game loss. Tayler Rushing recorded the loss in game one allowing the 10 runs on 13 hits.

Howard Payne is now 10-26 overall and 6-22 in American Southwest Conference play. ETBU stands at 27-2 overall and 23-2 in league action. The two teams will finish out their conference series on Tuesday with a single game starting at 3:00 pm.
