ALPINE, Texas - The Howard Payne women's tennis team picked up its first conference win of the year in a 6-3 decision over Sul Ross State University Wednesday afternoon.
Howard Payne started the day by taking two of the three doubles matches. HPU's,
Alex Marlin and
Chesney Goza fell in number one doubles 8-5.
In number two doubles,,
Tiffany Bullock and
Cathryn Rasbury defeated Hannah Rodgers and Parying Vang of Sul Ross State 8-3. Then,,
Devin Mendelson and
Breanna Hunt won 8-0 over Shanee Obbink and Brianna Wilde in number three doubles action.
The Lady Jackets dropped the number one and two singles matches in straight sets, but,
Tiffany Bullock in the number three spot 6-0, 6-0. HPU would win the remaining three singles match to claim the 6-3 conference victory.
Howard Payne is now,3-11 overall and 1-3 ASC West Division play.,Sul Ross State stands at 1-11 overall and 0-2 ASC action. The Lady Jackets play next on April 17th in Brownwood versus McMurry University at 1:00 pm.
