BROWNWOOD, Texas - Despite gaining an early lead the Howard Payne men's soccer team fell in their season opener to Texas Lutheran University 3-1 Tuesday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field.
Texas Lutheran outshouts the Jackets 20-8 in the game and had seven corner kicks to just one for Howard Payne.
Reid Longabaugh scored his first goal as a Jackets in the ninth minute of the gave to give Howard Payne a 1-0 lead.

TLU then responded with two goals before the end of the period. The first one coming off a header from a corner kick in the 39th minute and second a follow up off a save in the 44th minute.
The Jackets would have a few opportunities to start the second period but would be able to find the net. TLU added an insurance goal in the 67th minute to make the score 3-1.
Longabaugh led HPU with three shots on goal and the score.
Shay Pate added two shots. Stating keeper,
Allan Chehadi played all 90 minutes in goal allowing three goals and recording 10 saves.
Howard Payne will play next Tuesday, Sept. 8th at 4:00 pm versus Schreiner University at Citizens National Bank Field.
