AUSTIN, Texas – The Howard Payne women's soccer team downs conference opponent Concordia University Texas 2-0 Friday evening on the road.
After an hour weather delay to start the game, Howard Payne would score just before the half on a goal by
Victoria Sanchez. She scored off a loose ball and an assist from
Kristy Melendez.
Brittany Davis added an insurance goal for the Lady Jackets in the 79th minute on a corner kick assist from
Jennifer Martinez. It was Davis' second goal of the season.
Sanchez led HPU with three shots on goal and score.
Kelsie Piland recorded the win with nine saves in 90 minutes. The shutout makes her 2-2-0 on the year in goal.
Howard Payne is now 2-3-0 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Concordia stands at 1-5-1 overall and 1-1-0 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play at Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas on Saturday at 5:00 pm
