BELTON, Texas – The Howard Payne women's soccer team fell behind early and never got its offense going in a 4-0 loss to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday evening.
UMHB took a 1-0 lead on goal just 3:17 into the match. They then added a goal 11 minutes later to stretch the lead to 2-0 and another one in the 19th minute to give UMHB a 3-0 lead at halftime. UMHB added a goal in the second half to bring the score to its final margin.
Howard Payne was outshot by UMHB 22-2 in the match.
Kelsie Piland and
Nicole Goodwin split the match in net for Howard Payne and recorded three saves apiece.
The loss drops Howard Payne to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the American Southwest Conference. UMHB improves to 5-2-1 overall and 3-0 in ASC play with the win. The Lady Jackets will play next on October 1st at home versus Hardin-Simmons University starting at 1:00 pm.
