BELTON, Texas – The Howard Payne men's soccer team allowed two late goals and fell 3-0 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday night.
Mary Hardin-Baylor grabbed an early lead in the 12th minute. Howard Payne turned up the offensive pressure in the second half, but could not score.
UMHB collected a loose ball and drove it into the corner of the net in the 86th minute to gain 2-0 lead. UMHB added an insurance goal two minutes later for the final goal.

Javier Zaragoza had five saves to notch the shutout in goal for UMHB.
Shay Pate had two shots on goal with
Daniel Torres and
Ruben Lemus adding one each for the Jackets.,
Allan Chehadi had six saves in net for HPU. UMHB outshot Howard Payne 24-17 in the match.
The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the American Southwest Conference.,UMHB improves to 4-3-1 overall and 2-1 in league play. The Jackets will play next on October 1st at home versus Hardin-Simmons University starting at 3:00 pm.
