CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas.- The Howard Payne University men's basketball team used a 35-20 halftime lead to pick up a 81-65 win over the University of the Ozarks Monday night in American Southwest Conference play.
Howard Payne held Ozarks to just 20 percent shooting from the field in the first half and outrebounded the Eagles 60-34 in the game. Howard Payne would shoot 51 percent from the field in the second half to keep Ozarks from getting back in the game.
Howard Payne was led by
J Bailey and
Curtis Gile with 12 points each. Bailey added 11 rebounds along with four blocks to earn his first double double of the season.
Khyce Randall finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Rickey Guillory and
Bryan Adams each followed with 10 points each.
Josh Berard led the Eagles with 22 points. Kelby Robinson had 16 points and Jace Richardson had 12 points with ten assists.
Howard Payne is now 3-9 overall and 1-3 in American Southwest Conference action. Ozarks stands at 5-3 overall and 0-3 in league play. The Jackets will have their first home game of the season this Thursday at 7:30 pm versus East Texas Baptist University.
