CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas.-The Howard Payne University women's basketball team outscored the University of the Ozarks 31-9 in the fourth quarter to earn a 64-53 win Monday night in American Southwest Conference play.
Ozarks held a 26-19 halftime advantage and later built a 44-33 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Howard Payne then took control of the game in the fourth. Howard Payne held Ozarks to four points in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter. By the time Ozarks scored its fourth point of the quarter, Howard Payne owned a 52-48 lead. The Eagles couldn't recover and Howard Payne closed out the game on a 11-5 run.
Sarahi Castillo and
Danyel Bradley each finished with 15 points for the Lady Jackets. Castiilo added nine rebounds and four blocks.
Yessenia Cazares followed with 13 points. The HPU bench outscored Ozark's 31-5 in the game.
Ashley Hipps led Ozarks with 22 points. Diamond Goodwyn recorded 12 rebounds, while Bryanna Moltz had 11 boards.
Howard Payne is now 5-7 overall and 2-2 in American Southwest Conference action. Ozarks stands at 4-3 overall and 1-2 in league play. The Lady Jackets will have their first home game of the season this Thursday at 5:30 pm versus East Texas Baptist University.
