LONGVIEW, Texas – Howard Payne soccer suffered its ninth loss of the season with a 2-0 defeat at LeTourneau on Saturday evening. 

Nicole Goodwin was able to get a save in the first minute of the game as LeTourneau had two shots and one shot on goal in the first four minutes of the game. Dayane Gutierrez and Rachel Crane also had two shots on goal in the second and third minutes of the game. 

Nicole Goodwin would register two more saves in the first half to help keep LeTourneau scoreless in the first half. In all, Howard Payne would see 11 more shots during the half while receiving one more shot on goal from Rachel Crane that sailed wide in the 31st minute. 

LeTourneau got on the board early in the second half when LETU received a penalty kick in the 49th minute to go up 1-0. Jessica Swonger would continue to attack for HPU when she put a shot on goal that was saved by the LeTourneau goalkeeper. 

Dayane Gutierrez would strike again in the 57th minute while Nicole Goodwin would continue to face a fierce attacking offense from LETU. Goodwin would see eight more shots before Tyla Tipton responded with a shot of her own in the 80th minute. 

However, in the 85th minute, Howard Payne set up LeTourneau for another penalty kick after Goodwin initially saved a header from hitting the back of the net. During the skirmish in the box, a foul was called and LETU used it to pick up their second goal of the game. 

LeTourneau picked up the late goal to go up 2-0 and they held on to win and register their sixth victory of the season. 

Howard Payne registered six shots during the game, five of them on goal while seeing 24 shots and eight shots on goal from LeTourneau. 

Nicole Goodwin finished with six saves while Dayane Gutierrez recorded two shots on goal. Rachel Crane had two shots, one shot on goal and Tyla Tipton added one shot on goal in the loss. 

Howard Payne will now return home to host the University of the Ozarks at Citizens National Bank field. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m. on October 20th and all home games are free to attend.
