BROWNWOOD, Texas - After playing to a 0-0 tie at the half, the Howard Payne University women's soccer team give up a early second half goal to fall 1-0 to conference opponent Sul Ross State University Saturday afternoon.
In an intense match that saw three yellow cards and one red, the Lady Jackets would be outshot 12-8 overall and 7-5 in shots on goal.
Sul Ross State recorded the only score of the match in the 49th minute,Jaedyn Gutierrez on an assist by Lauren Ebbs. Sul Ross State would also lead Howard Payne in corner kicks 4-2 on the day.

Breon Shelly each had two shots for HPU, Shelly's were both on goal.
Tyla Tipton and Kaitlin Hunkins also added a shot on goal for Howard Payne.Â
Nicole Goodwin played all 90 minutes in goal for HPU allowing the one goal and recording six saves.
Howard Payne is now 3-8 overall and 1-5 in American Southwest Conference action. Sul Ross State stands at 5-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in league play.
