Box Score RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lady Jackets (2-3) headed to UT-Dallas (2-2) to open 2016 ASC conference play on Saturday. After dropping a match vs. NAIA opponent UH-Victoria earlier in the week, HPU was hoping to start conference play on the right foot.
Unfortunately, HPU was unable to keep the Comets off of the board early. They surrendered three goals in the first half and failed to muster more than one shot all night. They dropped the match 6-0 after giving up three more goals in the second half.
UT-Dallas was unforgiving in their attack and they controlled possession nearly the entire night. Aside from a Darbi Frazier shot, The Lady Jackets failed to get anything going on offense and surrendered 32 shots, 18 of them on target to end the night.
Nicole Goodwin managed six saves in the loss as the Lady Jackets fell to 2-4 on the season. The Comets were able to score in the 9th, 18th, 26th, 62nd and 72nd minutes of the match to earn themselves the conference victory.
Next up for Howard Payne is a home contest against University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at Citizens National Bank Field. The match is slated for a 2 pm start on Tuesday, September 22nd. All home matches are free to attend and fans can follow along on @HPUWSoc and on Instagram @HPUSports.
