Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's soccer team team got a game-winning goal freshman Morgan Patterson in a 3-1 conference victory over McMurry University Thursday afternoon.

After a scoreless first period, McMurry took the lead with a score at the 53 minute mark. But the Lady Jackets would respond with a goal by Kaitlyn Harrison three minutes late on a Dayane Gutierrez assist. It was Harrison's 4th goal of the season and Gutierrez' 4th assist of the year.

Then in the 70th minute, Morgan Patterson would score her first goal of her career following up a deflection off a Elizabeth Spivey play into the box.

Jessica Swonger added an insurance goal, her first score of her career, in the 89th minute off Gutierrez' fifth assist of the season.

Nicole Goodwin recorded the win in goal with eight and allowing the one goal.

The Lady Jackets recorded the win despite being outshot 19-7 overall and 9-7 in shots on goal.

Howard Payne is now 5-5-1 overall and 4-4-1 in American Southwest Conference play. McMurry stands at 3-10-0 overall and 1-7-0 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play host to Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday at 3:30 pm at Citizens National Bank Field.
