BELTON, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's soccer team fell 2-0 to conference oppoenent Mary Hardin-Baylor Thursday evening in conference play.
Michael Westerman got off a match high three shots, one on goal but it would not be enough as Mary Hardin-Baylor would outshoot Howard Payne 13-4 overall and 8-4 in shots on goal.
Reid Longabaugh recorded a shot on goal for HPU.
Nicholas Panameno got the loss in the start in goal for Howard Payne. Panameno had five saves and allowed two goals.
UMHBÂ held a 1-0 lead at the break with a goal in the 15th minute and scored a second at the start of the second period in the 47th minute.
Howard Payne now stands at 4-5-0 overall and 2-4 in American Southwest Conference action. UMHB is now 10-1 overall and 7-0 in league play. The Jackets will play next on Saturday at Concordia Texas in Austin. It will be a 7:30 pm start.
