BELTON, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's soccer team dropped a conference match-up with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor 5-0 Thursday evening on the road.
The Lady Jackets had some opportunities to score early in the match but would eventually be outshot 33-2 overall and 19-1 in shots on goal.
Mary Hardin-Baylor scored goals in the 32nd and 34 th minutes to hold a 2-0 halftime advantage. The Cru then added three second period goals (54th, 72nd, 75th) to end the game ahead 5-0.
Lesley Garcia and
Miranda Rice each had shots for the Lady Jackets, Rice's was on goal in the first period.
Nicole Goodwin got the loss in the start in goal recording 13 saves and allowing the five goals in 83 minutes of action.
Shelby Tanksley played the final seven minutes posting one save,
Howard Payne is now 4-4-1 overall and 3-3-0 in American Southwest Conference play. UMHB stands at 9-1-1 overall and 6-0-1 in league action. The Lady Jackets will play next on Saturday at Concordia Texas in Austin. It will be a 5:00 pm start.
