BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's basketball team fell 98-63 to conference opponent LeTourneau University Monday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum,
Just 31% shooting by Howard Payne and 55% shooting by LeTourneau was the difference in the night as the HPU Jackets never seemed to find an offensive rhythm in the game.
LeTourneau would lead from the start and held a 44-29 advantage at the half. LeTourneau extended its lead to 38 outscoring HPU by 20 in the second half to the 98-63 final.
De'Marcus Hurd led HPU with 17 points with Khyce Randall following with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Thomas Bingham scored seven along with a game high 11 rebounds.
Letu was led by Nate West with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Alec Colhoff followed with 18 points.
Howard Payne is now 2-6 overall and 0-2 in American Southwest Conference action. LeTourneau stands at 7-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Jackets will have two conference road games next, Dec. 14th at Belhaven University in Jackson, Miss and at Louisiana College on Dec. 16th in Pineville, LA.
