JACKSON, Mississippi - Great offensive performances from
Khyce Randall,
De'Marcus Hurd and Timothy Aguero gave the Howard Payne University men's basketball team a 96-84 conference road victory over Belhaven University Thursday evening.
Khyce Randall scored 19 of his game high 27 points in the second half to lead the second half surge for the Yellow Jackets. Timothy Aguero would also score 15 of his 19 points in the second half to help the Jackets out of their 51-37 halftime deficit. De'Marcus Hurd played a key role in HPU's night scoring 20 points and dishing out six assists.
Howard Payne shot 57.6% from the field in the game while out rebounding Belhaven 32-25. With Belhaven applying full court pressure most of the game, Howard Payne attacked the press scoring 16 fast break points while only committing 11 turnovers in the game
Randall added a career high 17 rebounds to his game high 27 points. Darren Farmer scored 11 points off the bench for HPU while Cole Bene" added five assists.
Belhaven was led by Brent Webber with 12 points followed by Kyle Patterson with 10 points.
Howard Payne is now 3-5 overall and 1-2 in American Southwest Conference action. Belhaven is 2-5 overall and 1-2 in league play. The Jackets will be at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA on Saturday for a 4:00 pm conference game.
