TYLER, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision to the University of Texas at Tyler Saturday afternoon in conference action.

The Jackets played solid defensively in the first period, down 1-0 at the break to the Patriots. But UT Tyler started to find the net in the second scoring four goals while holding Howard Payne to just two shots, one on goal in the match.

Collin Saylers and Antonio Zermeno each recorded a shot for the Jackets. Nicholas Panameno went just over 13 minutes in the start allowing one goal. Andrew Hackney played the final 76 minutes allowing four goals and recording 10 saves.

The loss was the first of the season for the Jackets and are now 3-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in American Southwest Conference play. UT Tyler stands at 3-1-2 overall and 2-0-0 in conference action. The Jackets will play next on Thursday, Sept. 21st versus Louisiana College at home starting at 4:30 pm.
