BROWNWOOD, Texas -
Michael Westerman, Daniel Lemus and
Tracer Moore account for all six of Howard Payne University's goals in a 6-3 conference victory over Louisiana College Thursday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets opened up a 5-0 halftime advantage with goals from
Michael Westerman in the 3rd and 18th minutes, from
Tracer Moore in the 10th and 34th minutes and one from Daniel Lemus in the 24th minute.
Moore would record two assists, Westerman with one and Jonpaul Vargus assisted on one all in the opening period.
After the Jackets gave up three Louisiana College goals in a fifteen minute span (70th, 81st, 85th) Danuel Lemus would return to the match scoring just two minutes later on a Westerman assist to shut the door on the Wildcats comeback. It was Westerman's second assist of the match and Lemus' second score of the game and fourth of the season.
Nicholas Panameno recorded the victory in the start for HPU in goal posting four saves and allowing one goal in 70 minutes of action.
Matt Prall saw his first time in goal as a Jacket allowing two goals in 20 minutes with three saves.
Howard Payne is now 4-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in American Southwest Conference action. Louisiana College falls to 1-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in league play. The Jackets will play next on Saturday at 4:30 pm versus Belhaven University at Citizens National Bank Field.
