Brownwood, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's soccer team picked up it first victory of the year in an 8-0 shutout of non-conference oppoenent Jarvis Christian college Thursday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field.

After holding a 2-0 halftime advantage, the Lady Jackets six second period goals to put the bulldogs of Jarvis Christian away 8-0.

Howard Payne not only held Jarvis Christian scoreless but out shot less 39-20 overall and 20-0 in shots on goal. The Lady Jackets would take 17 corner kicks to JCC's zero in the match,

Rachel Crane started the HPU scoring in the 21st minute on an assist by Victoria Sanchez, A Jada Austin goal in the 39th minute on a Paighton McNeely assist would give the match the 2-0 HPU halftime lead.

Kaitlyn Harrison netted the first goal of the six score second period for Howard Payne in the 51st minute on a Lacy Eagan assist. Just six minutes later Rachel Crane scored an unassisted goal following up a deflected shot off the keeper.

Then in the 66th munite, Kaitlyn Harrison scored her second goal of the match on a free kick.. Dayane Gutierrez would then net a pass from Gabriela Flores in the 80th minute.

Victoria Sanchez scored in he 80th minute on a Paighton McNeely assist and Madison Bridges rounded out the HPU scoring in the  83td minute off a Victoria Sanchez assist.ian falls 

Howard Payne is now 1-1-1 overall and Jarvis Christian falls to  0-3 on the year. Howard Payne will play next Thursday on the road at the University of the Ozarks at 2:00 pm.
