BROWNWOOD, Texas- Howard Payne University's Men's Soccer team suffered a tough loss of 0-1 today against Hardin-Simmons University.
HPU was able to hold off HSU for the duration of the first half. Both teams racked up a total of 2-7 shots, 1-4 corner kicks, and 7-7 fouls, but ended the first half 0-0.
Longabaugh received a season high of two shots throughout the match.
HPU came back on the stat sheet in the second half, tying HSU in shots, 7-7. Both teams playing tough defense kept the match at 0-0 through most of the second half. In the final seconds, HSU had a chip shot assist over the HPU defense which gave the game winning goal in the last two seconds of the match to receive the win of 0-1.
Howard Payne is now 3-7-0 overall and 2-5-0 in American Southwest Conference play, while Hardin-Simmons is now 3-8-1 overall The Yellow Jackets will head to Abilene Saturday October 13th, to play against McMurry University at 8:00 P.M. at Wilford Moore Stadium.
